About me
Hiya!
Welcome to my site. Thanks for visiting my little collection of art, based on all the beautiful places I’ve been and things that I’ve seen. I hope you enjoy browsing through the colourful display and that, at times, you may feel transported to the locations I depict. Many of the images are from my old home in Switzerland, or my travels throughout Europe. Originally, though, I’m Canadian! I spent most of my life there, reading, writing, painting. I got a Degree in Arts and Contemporary Studies at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario. My major was actually in English Literature and I’ve begun stretching that muscle with some writing projects of my own, but that’s not what this site is about. While I was studying ‘stuffier’ subjects during my four year degree, I spent lots of time at the Museums of Toronto. Especially the Art Gallery of Ontario, where I was inspired by The Group of Seven, Claud Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Charles Dulac and J.W. Turner. I’d pursued visual arts in high-school and I kept it as my hobby through University and then after I graduated and met my husband, I moved to Switzerland during the onset of the Covid Pandemic. Within the confines of reduced work opportunities and learning to speak French I turned my passion into a professional pursuit. Three years, two exhibits, and a move to Florida later, here I am in the United States still painting and planning for future exhibits.
Fun facts about me: I have a cute little cat named Molly who is a source of endless cuddles and entertainment. I’m a tea lover. Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast, Assam, Ceylon, Rooibos, I love them all! (Except I haven’t gotten into green or white tea… maybe one day.) I am also a complete nerd. I’ve been to three comic cons. I like Star Wars, Star Trek and the X-Men. I read avidly, but almost exclusively fictional novels. My favourite books are fantasies and cosy mysteries (with the occasional classic or poetry book thrown in). Oh! And I have a major sweet tooth.
If you’ve read this far, thanks! It’s been fun composing this for you and I hope everything you’ve viewed on my site has been a source of Joy!
Signed,
Carlina Faasse
